I am happily married to my wife, Cheryl. We have been married for 21 years. We have two beautiful children, Elisa (20) and Katie (16). We live in a small town just north of Indianapolis, IN. I was born and raised on a golf course in Valparaiso, IN (another small town about an hour south of Chicago). I’ve been blessed to have two loving and caring parents, John and Joanne. They have since relocated from Valparaiso and now live in (you guessed it) a smaller Indiana town AND on a golf course. It’s a good thing that I enjoy the game of golf!
I have a strong technical background. In my traditional job, I’ve been working with computers for 23 years. I’ve built computers from scratch, worked desktop support, trained clients on software applications, designed and implemented local area networks and mentored colleagues. In my current position, I’m an advanced system’s administrator responsible for deploying software to 50,000 clients and testing applications that my peers have automated for our customer.
I am also an entrepreneur. I’ve had “side jobs” for the past 20 years. In this small business owner capacity, I’ve been a computer consultant, an application programmer, an eBay Power Seller, worked in retail sales, constructed web pages, designed, implemented and supported Local Area Networks and assisted in online marketing campaigns (affiliate, company-to company, direct sales, guerilla, social networking, video and viral). I also specialize in converting documents, videos and audios from one format into another.
In this blog, I will delve into my past experiences and provide you with some insight on how to build a successful small business - mentally, physically and technologically. With today’s plummeting economy and the uncertainty of the future of your traditional job, doesn’t it make sense to have a “backup plan?”
Enough about me - please feel free to share some of your past experiences in successfully building a small business. I want to keep this real so when posting, do not list company names. Keep it general like Company A. Let’s keep the “I” of Integrity in small business.
I hope this blog finds you and your family well. I hope it will propel you into taking action and provide the lifestyle that you and your family so richly deserve.
